‘We spoke too soon’: Local paramedics report code red after ‘manageable’ holiday call volume IG News

Irshadgul News report,

The union representing paramedics in the Waterloo region reported a “code red” at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday — meaning there were no ambulances to accept new calls.

“Extreme call volumes and staff shortages are causing delays at hospitals,” the union said in a tweet.

The association is urging residents to use emergency resources appropriately.

It comes just a day after a post by the union called call volumes “manageable” during the holiday.

“We spoke too soon,” Union said.

In September and October of 2022, several Code Red cases were reported at Waterloo area hospitals.
