What roads, junctions and car parks are closed in Scarborough for Armed Forces Day? All roads revealed to be closed and when they reopen

Over the South Bay the RAF is set to welcome thousands of spectators to the sea for aerobatic displays, military parades, musical performances and Royal Navy ships off the coast on Saturday, June 25.

Festivities begin at 10 a.m. later in the day with highlight events including a display of the Red Arrows, the RAF Falcons Parachute Team, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and an RAF Typhoon – when the skies of Scarborough will be filled with the roar of the engines of the RAF’s most spectacular airplanes. .

The national event, which attracts anywhere between 100,000 and 200,000 people and figures including the prime minister and the royal family, was due to be held in the summer of 2020 and 2021 but was postponed twice due to uncertainty surrounding the pandemic.

Thousands flock to Scarborough’s beach for Armed Forces Day in 2019.

Armed Forces Day is a national celebration and public display of support for those currently serving in the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, as well as veterans, reservists and their families.

It is expected that traffic will increase in Scarborough throughout the weekend, as at the time of writing, there is set to be widespread disruption to visitors traveling along the coast with a rail strike scheduled for Saturday.

Before the event, some roads around Scarborough will be closed.

Event organizers have written to residents directly affected by the bandh and are providing free nearby parking lots when entry is restricted.

All vehicles must be removed from incident areas and any vehicles still on site will be removed and a fee may be charged to recover the vehicle.

Blue badge holders are also unable to leave cars parked in the event area.
