Rare black tigers are found in the state of Odisha in India.
According to Indian media reports, Parliament was informed on Thursday that a total of 10 of the country’s rarest black tigers have been found in the Similipal National Park in the state of Odisha.
Union Minister of State for Environment Ashwini Kumar Choubey told the Rajya Sabha that India’s rare black melanistic tigers are found only in Odisha’s Similipal National Park.
He said that as per Pan India Tiger Estimate 2022, there are 16 tigers in Smiley Pal National Park, of which 10 are rare black leopards.
Ashwini Kumar Choubey also stated that due to genetic changes, these tigers have black stripes on their body, which makes them unique from other tigers.
