Rae Bareli: A woman has been arrested along with her lover for the murder of her husband in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh.
The accused dressed up to make the incident a case of suicide. He also put up a suicide note, which said that no one was responsible for the death.
Rae Bareli Superintendent of Police (SP) Alok Priyadarshi said the accused woman, 32-year-old Shubha Devi, was married to Rajesh, who worked in an automobile company in Gujarat.
Shubha, a resident of Rae Bareli, was in a relationship with 38-year-old Sumair.
Last week, when Rajesh returned for Dussehra holidays and learned about his wife’s extramarital affairs, he insisted that he should accompany her to Gujarat.
Upset by this, Shubha and Sumer first strangle Rajesh and then hang his body from the ceiling to make it appear as a case of suicide.
However, in the postmortem report, it has been said that Rajesh was strangled to death.
However, it was Shubha who informed the police that her husband had committed suicide at his residence in Gadaganj police station.
“A team reached the spot and took the body for post-mortem, but a motive could not be ascertained following which the victim’s brother was contacted. He claimed that minutes before the incident, he had spoken to his brother Rajesh and the latter was not depressed or worried about anything,” the SP said.
The police team also recovered a suicide note, but handwriting experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory said that the handwriting was of someone other than Rajesh.
“We also took phone records of the victim’s wife and found a unique number of a person with whom she used to talk for long hours at odd hours. A team surrounded the person operating the number and he was identified as Sumair,” the SP said.
A sample of Sumair’s handwriting was also taken, which matched the suicide note.
Gadganj station house officer Arvind Singh said, “We interrogated Sumer that he along with the victim’s wife first strangled Rajesh and then framed the scene as suicide.”
