According to sources, Pakistan has assured the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that the average electricity tariff may increase by Rs 5 to Rs 7 per unit in July due to annual adjustment.

A source on the matter said the IMF had asked the Ministry of Energy to provide more details on the assumptions used to raise electricity prices on an annual basis.
According to sources, the Ministry of Finance has said it will provide electricity subsidy of up to Rs 920 billion in the next financial year. But no final decision has been made on this matter.
