In the Punjab by-elections, Section 144 was enforced in 10 districts.

The Punjab Home Ministry has enforced Section 144 in 10 districts ahead of the by-elections on April 21, according to the notification. Section 144 has been enforced to ensure law and order.

As per the notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Section 144 will remain in force for five days from April 18 to April 22 in 10 cities of Punjab where by-elections are being held.

According to the said announcement Section 144 has been enforced in Lahore, Kasur, Chakwal, Gujrat, Bakkar, Wazirabad, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Rahim Yar Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan.

During this period there will also be a ban on carrying licensed weapons.
