The Climate Change Council meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, with the chief ministers of the four provinces participating via video link.
The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while protesting the abuse of power by the federal government said that the federal government wants to seize the province’s carbon credits. Carbon credits are the rights and property of the province and their seizure is not acceptable.
He said we will protect the rights, resources and people of the province at all costs. 45 percent of the country’s forests are in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 50 percent of the country’s total carbon credits are generated by Khyber. Pakhtunkhwa People have rights
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Kandapur added that 80% of forests in the province are privately owned.

Ali Amin Kandapur said we should be told how much power our province lacks.
He said the central government collects R300 billion in taxes on provincial tobacco production each year. This tax is the right of the provinces and provinces should not allow consumption.
Ali Amin Kandapur demanded that the future course of action should be decided through discussion of the province’s constitutional rights.
