In a recent development, the Election Commission has retracted the victory notification of Aun Chaudhry, citing an inadvertent issuance. The notification pertained to the victory of Aun Chaudhry, representing the Muslim League (N)-backed Staatwat Pakistan Party from NA-128. This decision was communicated to the Islamabad High Court by the Director-General Legal of the Election Commission.
Subsequently, Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court has instructed opposition candidate and petitioner PTI leader Salman Akram Raja to submit his application to the Election Commission while awaiting further proceedings. Additionally, the court directed Raja’s lawyer to initiate legal proceedings against the Election Commission concerning this matter.
The Election Commission’s Director-General informed the court about the commission’s acknowledgment of its error, leading to the withdrawal of the previously issued notification regarding Aun Chaudhry’s victory.
